Carol McManus Author of Table Talk Cookbook

Carol McManus is a entrepreneur, restaurant owner and most of all a mother of 5 children. The owner of Espresso Love, a popular café on Martha’s Vineyard, MA, Carol has been putting food on the table since she was a child who hijacked her mother’s new Sunbeam electric mixer.
Cooking came instinctively to her, and preparing meals for her five children was a natural extension of that. Her life has always encompassed preparing and serving food, she has also spent years studying the dynamics of families.
She has a degree in elementary education and early childhood development.
It would take a personal crisis to drive her directly into the food business. In 1992, she divorced her husband who was a policeman and moved to Martha’s Vineyard. Being a single parent facing bankruptcy, she borrowed enough money from one of her children to open a tiny coffee shop in the corner of a hotel on Martha’s Vineyard.
She took everything she knew about food and feeding people and began to develop an interesting and innovative menu. A few short years later, she bought a restaurant in Edgartown, and turned her tiny coffee shop into a successful large café, serving breakfast and lunch.
Her restaurant, Espresso Love, is now a full-sized garden café featuring many of the recipes in the cookbook
– including the famous Presidential Muffins she served to President Bill Clinton. She has also hosted Cooking with Carol on cable television, and has been a regular guest chef on a News Channel 12, a Connecticut television affiliate.
McManus has used her extensive travel times – she goes each year to study cooking in Provence with a wellknown chef – to collect a range of recipes that are easy, appealing and diverse. She is regularly asked to speak on the subject of family meals, and has given cooking lessons to children in the local elementary school.
