Reflection and Rebirth

Wednesday Dec 31, 2008

Today has been a day of reflection on the past year and also a thought of rebirth of the new things in 2009. So bare with me as my thoughts are some what random as I write.

For me, 2008 was a pretty wonderful year. I developed some great personal and business relationships allowing me to push forward.

About 6 months ago, my hubby had been looking at me…you know the look. The endearing look. The look saying “I enjoy looking at you.” Well, at first I didn’t say anything but I had noticed it a couple of times. Then after a couple of times, I asked him, “I am so happy that you enjoy looking at me and you are more than welcome to keep doing it, however, may I ask the reasoning for looking?”

Smiling he replied, “You look like a real mommy to me?” (for those who may not know. I am a mother of a 11 yr old daughter) Ok, I know, not what I was expecting either and it took me back for a second too. The natural response to this statement is, “what did I look like before hand? A fake mommy?”

But instead of saying that, I followed up with another question, “Please explain what is your meaning of the statement.” He replied again with a chuckle and even bigger smile, “You look more like who you want to be.”

Ok. All I have to say is…that is one of the sweetest things anyone has ever said to me!

I know I was pushing it however, I asked another question. Smiling back I asked, “And how long have you noticed this? He said, “for about a year or so.

See, I have had my own business for almost 2 years…how cool is that!!!!
So to me, my hubby was saying he has been seeing the transformation to become more of me.

It was nice to realize one of the people I love most in this world was noticing my transformation into the person I want to be. (And I know the journey is never really complete…each day I strive to discover and become more of the person I wish to be)

During this year, there were people who guided me along my path to discovering more of who I am and getting rid of negative mindsets, habits, self doubt. Allowing me to seek out the true me and loving me for me.

My husband has been the one person who loved me the right way to allow me to realize I deserved to be loved. (We celebrated our 4th yr anniversary in Sept ’08.)

Heidi Richards Mooney is one of the people when I came online fulltime in 2004 was generous, selfless, and willing to help me in anyway (and STILL DOES to this day!). She is such a great woman and I hope one of these days to meet in person. I have received so much support, encouragement and friendship from her. Thanks Heidi for ALL you have done for me and continue to do for me. You are a gem to me.

Jenn Givler is another person who has really helped me. When I would talk with Jenn she would help me realize I was on the right path of where I wanted to be either personally or professionally. She would listen (really listen) and offer questions back to me to help me discover the answer of what I was possibly looking for in a situation. I adore this woman and so delighted she is my friend.

Arlene Arnold is another person who right away from talking with her made me feel really at ease and I told her quite a bit about my personal history within the first hour of talking with her. She has a wonderful spirit.

A new friend I have met within the last couple of months (and I believe we will be friends for a long time) is Karen Pierce Gonzalez. She has a great heart and giving ear. I see great things happening between KPG PR and KBP in ’09.

Some very wonderful honorable mentions this year (friends, colleagues, associates)… Katherine Reschke, Liz Strauss, Beverly Mahone, Ester V, Jennifer Smith, and members of eWomen Network.

I have been truly blessed by the people in my life there are just too many to put in here.

Thank you to each of you who have helped me this year and I hope we will continue much success in the new year.

In 2008, I learned to stand in my power, trust in my instincts and ask questions when needed. Oh yes, and love myself NOW…and know that I can grow each day.

I am looking forward with the new things I will be doing in 2009 and I hope you will enjoy the new additions, updates, and direction of Key Business Partners in the new year.

Happy New Year to everyone!
