Green Women Who Gather

Wednesday Apr 23, 2008

Well, I just read a very interesting post by Mary Clare Hunt of In Women We Trust (also the cover women of the Spring ’08 edition of WE Magazine for Women.

Her post was reflecting about some emails she had received from other women (such as Toby Bloomberg and Yvonne DiVita) about her cover photo on WE Magazine this time.

And Mary went on to talk about an email she received from Diane MacEachern who had mentioned that someone else brought up the question of Why do we Gather? And Mary replied, “For the same reason we blog together…to support each other.”

And I SOOOOO agree with that!

Mary even had a quote at the top of the post by Yvonne and it said ” Ever notice how bloggers talk about the same people over and over? That’s because we have relationships with them.” Yvonne DiVita, Lipsticking.

In reading this post, I was lead to a group of amazing women and the causes and organizations that they are a part of and I would like to share these with you.

I hope that you will also take the time to join and be a part of them with me.

Emily McKhann – The Motherhood
Diane MacEachern – The Big Green Purse
Kimberly Danek Pinkson – Eco Mom Alliance

And Mary’s post ended by stating this simple fact…why do green women gather? Because we can.

However, I would like to take it one step further. We gather because we care!

Teresa, I like your answer better. It is because we care and proof of that is how Mommy__________ seems to be the rage not Women__________ i.e. mommy bloggers, soccer moms, eco moms, working mothers. Single women gather more than single men, but moms with kids who can feel a direct link to their future do seem to be more active. Or maybe it’s just a better media pull to put a Mommy(whatever) in the title.

Teresa – thanks for continuing Mary’s conversation. The internet, and in particular social media (or Web 2.0 tools), have connected so many wonderful people. Joining together can make a difference in ways that were not imaginable even 2 or 3 years ago.
