Never Let ‘em Get You Down! The Challenges and Bureaucratic B.S. of Taking An Invention to Market with Denyse DuBrucq, EdD.

Denyse DuBrucq, EdD. is an educator and inventor. She serves as Managing General Partner of two partnerships holding her inventions, one dealing with the electronics inventions and the other those dealing with fires and crises. She discovered how to use Liguid Nitrogen to stop fires. Prospects for her invention are world wide to reduce the carbon released to the atmosphere during fires and to preserve water resources. She anticipates demonstrations in China to control their severe coal mine fires and in California for the Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention to end wildland fires quickly and efficiently. In 2003 with the Iraq War underway, the Iraqis threatened to explode their oil wells 20 feet below the surface. To control these events without losing rights to the technology as happened in her work to control the Kuwait well fires in 1991, DuBrucq started writing the first Liquid Nitrogen patent focusing first on the Iraqi task, and, as the ideas kept streaming, the a wide group of fire and crises control capabilities. August, 2003, she offered the US Army Corps of Engineers means to quickly end the oil pipeline fires in Iraq , where these fires took 10 days to end, enabling them to be controlled in one day. The compensation she requested never happened because it had to be paid by the company that lost profits because of the new required speed of fire control. In this session you will learn about Denyse’s journey of disappointment, promises not kept, political two-stepping and other challenges she has faced to get her products to market. Unwavering in her quest to succeed, Denyse has put together a team that she feels will help her get the much needed funding, attention and outcome she knows can and will change the world.

Darren Rowse is a full time Blogger making a living from this new and dynamic medium from blogs like Digital Photography School. In 2002 Darren stumbled upon an article about ‘Blogging’. He didn’t know it at the time but that moment changed his life. From the experience Darren has since started many other blogs. As his blogs have grown in popularity and generate income, his Blogging journey has taken him from a hobby (some would say an obsession), to a part time job through to a fully fledged business in recent times. Darren slowly built his blogging into a income source that has enabled him to dedicate more and more time to the medium to the point where he is now a full time blogger with ProBlogger.

In 2005 Darren embarked with three others on the biggest blogging project he’d ever done – b5media – a blog network that has hundreds of blogs written by hundreds of bloggers from around the world on a wide variety of channels/verticals. Darren is VP of Blogger training at b5media. Prior to blogging Darren had many interesting jobs including being a youth minister for his church. Unconventional Wisdom from a Woman with a Vision for an Invention that Sold Millions! An Inteview with Tomima Edmark, Inventor, Entrepreneur and Author

Tomima Edmark is the inventor of the wildly successful TopsyTail, a hair accessory for women that she marketed by herself to revenues of $150 million. This extraordinary product earned her instant fame among the nation’s small-business set and put Edmark on an entrepreneurial path that continues today. She has since developed a series of additional consumer products, written several successful books and created a variety of e-commerce Web sites. Along the way, she became known for her entrepreneurship and was featured on television shows and in business publications like Good Morning America, Oprah, Forbes Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal.

In 1999, Tomima realized there was a gap in the options women had to buy lingerie; our choices were department store, lingerie boutique or mail order. Why shouldn’t we have the same ease buying bras that we had for, say, tee shirts or music? An entrepreneur with a series of unconventional successes, Tomima turned to the internet and HerRoom was born. For Tomima, HerRoom isn’t just about shopping for sexy lingerie. She wants women to find the styles and sizes that fit them best—for all body types and tastes.

With a BFA in Fashion Design and an MBA, she uses her left brain and right brain to understand both the design and business of the women’s lingerie market. Tomina is going to share how she got the idea for TopsyTail, her journey to taking her invention to market and the steps she took to that led to its ultimate success.

Goals: Completed and To Be Done

Monday Apr 28, 2008

Well, I have the distinct pleasure of being a part of another GOALS blog conversation this time started by my friend, Katherine Reschke, Life Coach and owner of Passions that Pay, where entrepreneurs realize and monetize their life passions online.

For me this last couple of months have been truly wonderful. My business is really hitting new heights and my customers are simply terrific.

I believe that when I did this Goals conversation for February I had mentioned that I had completed “refining” my brand for my business. I have continued to tweak that in the last couple of months to make separate pages for my services and I believe the navigation of the site is easier.

Also, I am happy to see that my newsletter subscribers have increased steadily since it beginning, which is nice to see. I am happy to see that people are interested in the information, resources and ideas I have to help them.

Last time for the blog conversation I did mention a new product…one for speakers (Speakers Forms Kit).
That I am still working on because I have decided that I would first like to expand my Coaches Forms Kit. However, my goal for May is to have updated the coaches forms kit AND complete the Speakers Forms Kit as well.

For May, I would also like to have my newsletter subscribers increase by 10%.

May is a big month for Virtual Assistants as it is International Virtual Assistants Day on May 16th. Come back to my site because there will be a SPECIAL you will only be able to receive on that day.

Now, I would like to continue this blog conversation with three friends of mine, Jenn Givler and Michelle Waters and Heidi Richards.

Networking Day on Ryze

Thursday Apr 24, 2008

Thursdays is Networking Day at HER Mastermind Group on Ryze
and I wanted to share with you a few interesting topics that have been brought up in regards to networking:
Have you evaluated your networking efforts lately?
Felicia Slattery responded: “You are so right about needing to manage the networking activities. When I evaluate where to spend my limited time, I look at the opportunities to build relationships and as a way to get the word out about my business. And I look for something user friendly so I can jump right in instead of figuring out how it all works.”
Kristine Sheehan responded,”I do sit down twice a day to review and read emails and network posts. Depending on my morning rush (the kids)I visit two or three networks. WHat’s interesting to me is that I find the time to do all I set out to do… even if it’s just to read what’s going on.”
and Sandi Thompson said, “Spending hours a day is getting cumbersome and making a schedule is a great idea. In addition to online networking, I am participating in local high profile groups as well: Toastmasters, Chamber of Commerce events, women’s networking groups, etc.”

And on April 17th I posted this question: When you Network…what “footprint are you leaving behind?
Bea Kunz responded to my question by saying this, “What we do and give to others, we are doing and giving to ourselves.”
How simply elegant and to the point. Thanks Bea!

So please join in the conversations at “>HER Mastermind on Ryze and be apart of the fun, support and journey with us!

Green Women Who Gather

Wednesday Apr 23, 2008

Well, I just read a very interesting post by Mary Clare Hunt of In Women We Trust (also the cover women of the Spring ‘08 edition of WE Magazine for Women.

Her post was reflecting about some emails she had received from other women (such as Toby Bloomberg and Yvonne DiVita) about her cover photo on WE Magazine this time.

And Mary went on to talk about an email she received from Diane MacEachern who had mentioned that someone else brought up the question of Why do we Gather? And Mary replied, “For the same reason we blog together…to support each other.”

And I SOOOOO agree with that!

Mary even had a quote at the top of the post by Yvonne and it said ” Ever notice how bloggers talk about the same people over and over? That’s because we have relationships with them.” Yvonne DiVita, Lipsticking.

In reading this post, I was lead to a group of amazing women and the causes and organizations that they are a part of and I would like to share these with you.

I hope that you will also take the time to join and be a part of them with me.

Emily McKhann – The Motherhood
Diane MacEachern – The Big Green Purse
Kimberly Danek Pinkson – Eco Mom Alliance

And Mary’s post ended by stating this simple fact…why do green women gather? Because we can.

However, I would like to take it one step further. We gather because we care!
